YouTube is 5 years Old

one of my long term goals is to reach kids in Scotland through the power of television. I had all these great ideas of a kids cable channel and ways to spread the Gospel message creatively. Then I saw some interesting numbers regarding YouTube's 5th Birthday.
YouTube is localized in 23 countries across 24 different languages. On average a person spends 15 minutes a day watching YouTube. More Video is uploaded to YouTube than all 3 major US networks have created in 60 Years. Hundreds of Millions of videos are watched every month on mobile devices. (stats complied by website-monitoring.com)
When you look at stats like these you have to stop and move the goal posts. If hundreds of millions of people are watching videos on their phones, instead of spending more time and effort and cost creating a kids TV channel, why not move the goal posts and go online? why not create a YouTube channel as an effective way to reach kids TV could never reach? There is so much potential going forward, just as long as we stay in touch with new media and keep up the levels of excellence anything is possible or as one mobile company ad slogs puts it: the future's bright, the future's orange

suround yourself with creative thinkers

I'm cooking dinner for my beautiful wife. Now i don't want to cook an average dinner. so what do i do? I go online get a recipe and watch an episode of Jamie does. Jamie Oliver is one of my favourite chef's because he is passionate about what he believes in and he is creative in his cooking. whether it is cooking a meal, writing a sermon, preparing a report for your boss at work or serving in church, surround yourself with creative thinkers and your level of excellence will increase

How to stand out when no-one's watching

I have had 2 very contrasting weeks.

last week our boss was away and although I tried to persevere, the rest of my team didn't show a great attitude, I found myself getting sucked into their sucky attitudes and tempted to provide the same level of service.

This week after our boss came back and set the record straight, their attitudes and behaviours came to light. - enough said.

This got me thinking if you don't keep a check on your attitude, your performance is going to suffer.
even in the hard times when it seems like no-one is watching you and no-one cares, keep persevering because one day everything will come out into the light, and your behaviour and attitudes will be assessed, maybe by your peers, maybe by your boss or your leader, definitely  by God.

just like Nemo, keep on swimming, even if it feels like you are going against the tide and one day you will reach your goal.

21st Century church

My brother in law and his girlfriend are visiting from California and discussed their church problems with me, like the pastor doesn't care how we lead our ministry, people church hopping and nobody wants to lead in their student ministry. This got me thinking the church is the bride of Christ so maybe she needs as 21st century style makeover. The church should be the most attractive place to be on the earth, whether you are in Scotland or USA or anywhere. This means for us; when our kids come in on a Sunday we have the wii playing, we have an inflatable football pitch but more importantly we have leaders who care about every child who walks into the room, we have the teaching of the word in a way that is relevant and fun for our kids, we have leaders investing gold into our kids. we have a spirit of excellence not convenience.

Welcome

Welcome to my blog,  I have come to understand the importance of building, not just up but also down. building up to connect with leaders who are ahead of me, like David Wakerley or Jim Wideman. learning from them so I can build my leadership and grow my influence to lead. I also believe in building down, sowing into the net generation of leaders and encouraging them to flourish in the gifts God has given them.
